Autumn inspired my October Mystery Artist pick when it made me think of this painting by a post-impressionist painter. This artist was born in 1853 in the Netherlands. He began drawing when he was young and ultimately decided to be an artist.
Impressionist painters such as Claude Monet and Edgar Degas inspired this artist. In 1886 this artist moved to Paris to learn from these painters and he began using lighter colors and broken brushstrokes.
In 1888 this artist moved again, this time to the south of France. During this time he painted many paintings in his signature style of bold and expressive brushstrokes. His most famous painting is probably Starry Night.
