Textile Art
Textile art means art that was created using fabrics, or textiles. Students covered many art concepts through this project! Students began by learning about geometric and organic shapes and creating them on their burlap. We looked at Navajo weavings for inspiration. Students then used acrylic paint to add warm and cool colors. Some students even mixed white and black to create tints and shades. The final step was reviewing how to sew and stitching designs on the work. Students experimented with the running stitch, fill stitches, and even the daisy chain stitch.
