Dragon Puppets
1st graders wrapped up their year in art by creating dragon puppets out of colorful paper bags. In their classroom this year, 1st graders completed an author study on Tomie dePaola. We decided to read one of his books, The Knight and the Dragon, as inspiration for this project. The first day was spent creating the main structure of the dragon. On day 2 we read the hilarious Dragons Love Tacos and thought about what our dragons love. Students added details to create their own dragon character. Finally, students created short skits in their table groups and performed them to the class (and had a ton of laughs in doing so!)
With the end of the year chaos, I forgot to take many photos!
