We began this lesson by reading Barney Saltzberg's fun, interactive and creative book, Beautiful Oops. The book takes you through a series of common "oops" from torn paper to spilled paint. Each time, the "oops" is transformed into something new. "When you think you have made a mistake, OOPS!, think of it as an opportunity to make something beautiful!"
Third graders began by making an "oops" on their paper. They then traded with someone else and were challenged to make the oops into something new! This lesson was also a great intro into using tempera paint and mixing colors. Next time you have an oops, can you turn it into something positive? |
