Secret Code Collage
Auguste Herbin was a French painter who lived from 1882-1960. He is best known for his abstract, geometric paintings. Auguste Herbin developed something he called “L’Alphabet Plastique.” This was an alphabet he created in which he assigned colors and shapes to letters. Thus, you could effectively “read” his paintings!
2nd graders thought of their own secret code for their art. They then assigned colors and shapes to the letters they would need. Students cut shapes out of construction paper to create a collage of their secret code. Try to crack the code yourself! |
