Dreams
Third graders have dreams. Some are silly, some are ambitious, and some are exceedingly kind. Check out these glimpses into the futures they see for themselves!
Students began this project by talking about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the dream he had. They looked at artwork by Faith Ringgold and read her book, Tar Beach. The book is about Cassie, who is ten years old and in the third grade, her dreams, and her imagination. Students thought about their dreams for the future and sketched their ideas. Students used painted paper to collage themselves. They created an abstract painted paper background to make their collage pop out.
