Inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci
Inventions and Mona Lisa Parodies
1st Graders began the year by talking about creative thinking and Leonardo Da Vinci. We looked at his sketches of invention ideas, saw new inventions, and created our own. If you could invent something new, what would it be? Would it be funny? Would it be helpful? How would it work?
Inventions
Parodies
After students finished creating inventions, we returned to Da Vinci, this time to his famous painting, the Mona Lisa. We learned that there is a mystery behind this painting, and no one knows for sure who Da Vinci painted. Students looked at parodies that artists have created of the Mona Lisa, the Spongebob and Squidward ones were a big hit! Finally, first graders created their own parodies, see some examples below.
